Flash intro makeover

Posted by Somik | Posted in Featured | Posted on May 21st, 2010

The flash intro was redone as the previous one was for the old designs. Moreover, a lot of new sites has been added to the flash intro. Now it will showcase sixteen websites under Somik.org! Given that it takes 8 seconds to get a short description of the website from the flash intro, you will soon know all the websites you need that are by us and thus this will make your search shorter!

Also the flash is made to match the current theme.

Any suggestions on theme or flash intro welcome :)

Emo.somik.org

As you know, we have a emoticons, smiley and avatar gallery for you. There, you will find over 50,000 images to use on your website, blog, forum, msn messenger, and every other place you want to express yourself with a smiley!

If picture is worth a thousand words, then we have 50 million words worth of smilies and emoticons and avatars on the gallery. It is also being constantly updated with newer images and offensive images are being removed. Unlike before, the smiley and emoticons are listed on a seperate page then the avatars. I have also included some javascript preview options of the images inside the folder before you go in. Hopefully this will save a lot of time for you when you are on a rush to find a smiley for your forum/blog post!

We allow hotlinking, which means you can link the emoticons and smileys and avatar directly from our blog. You can also download it to your computer or upload it to your website.

Why dont you go take a look for yourself?

You can thank us by helping us increase our collection! Just post a reply a link to your emoticons/smiley/avatar pack and we will include it in our gallery. You will also get to see your name inside the gallery as a contributer!

ImagePerl.com – Reliable Image Host

We all need somewhere to upload our images before we can link them on our blog or add to our website or forum or even to show it to a friend. Currently, there is Photobucket, Imageshack, Tinypic and so on. So where does ImagePerl fit in all these?

First of all, its ad free. It is also free of charge. It includes state-of-the-art image upload options, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Multiple image upload from computer (10 at one go)
  • Multiple image upload from remote servers (10 image urls at once)
  • Zip upload (allowing you to zip up all the images and upload all-together)
  • Text to image converter (great for making quotes)
  • Flash image drawing board (draw a image online!)

Thats not all we offer. While uploading the image, you are able to:

  • Protect your image from being displayed in public gallery of ImagePerl
  • Apply a image border
  • Apply a thumbnail border
  • Watermark your image with ImagePerl watermark
  • Flip image horizontally
  • Flip image vertically
  • Resize image to any desired size
  • Rotate image 90, 180 and 270 degrees
  • Shear right image
  • Shear left image
  • Apply horizontal scanline on image
  • Apply vertical scanline on image
  • Apply any number of above mentioned options at once, and to all the images you are about to upload.

You can also upload image directly to your ImagePerl gallery. Oh, didn’t i mention? You are able to create and password protect your images in a gallery.

These and more modifications were done to ImagePerl back in 2009 by yours truly! Read more about it here.

Ever heard the saying “why fix something thats not broken?” The answer is: To make it more AWESOME!

First, ImagePerl have been remodded to fix some minor bugs and some parts had to be recoded to lower server load. It was done to make ImagePerl acceptable and desirable to a wider range of users. The theme has undergone various changes in the past year and it is still being changed and redesigned to match the new banner.

ImagePerl now features a first ever Firefox addon that has been used on a noncommercial website to make it easier for the members to upload image easily while browsing. All you do is install the plugin, and go about your browsing. When you come across a image you like, right click on it and select “Upload to ImagePerl”. It will directly go inside your images folder. Remember that you need to be logged in to perform this. Not a problem since once you login, ImagePerl will not ask you to relogin in the next 30 days!

ImagePerl also has a Opera menu mod that does the same thing, however due to its difficulty in installing, i will have to write a seperate tutorial for that one.

ImagePerl now lets you comment on images as you like! Yes, you have heard it folks, images you upload to imageperl, you can get users to comment on it. Since you want your privacy, i have only enabled commenting in the public area. I will later consider enabling it inside your own galleries aswell!

Here is a screenshot of how ImagePerl looks:

I have a lot of people interested in this, so i’ll give a short review on this too.

iGod is the internet god. I did not write the script. I got it from a website and with their permission, i had it around for a really long time. If you are wondering what iGod is, its a funny version of internet god. You will be laughing all the way chatting with this funny bot who acts like a god! He is really smart (for a bot) and can turn you into a believer.

Have fun chatting with Him and do remember to post your comments on what you thought of him!

GemX is a brand new website. As it says on the website, Gemx is the gem of somik.org.

GemX is composed of five small websites.

First one is GemYouTube. The purpose is simple. It takes a youtube link and converts it to be viewed in lower resulation for users like me on low bandwidth. All you do is drag the bookmark to anywhere on your browser, and click it when playing a video on YouTube. That makes the bookmark transfer the video to GemX website for easy viewing.

Second one is State of the art url shortener, based on a script designed by us. Why state of the art? Why dont u go and see our GemURL.

GemSearch provides you a quick alternative to search somik.org and sites under it very fast!

As for AnonymousURL redirection service, it will be like others, except it will bearly load GemX site! We value your time. So we wont make you wait for even a second!

GemGoogle is a twist to play prank on your friends! Click here for details.

Are you a blogger/forum poster? If so, then you might have gotten frusted at some of the smiley collection around that forum/blog. As for me, i never seemed to find the right one for my post. So i was looking for a website that would let me post/hotlink images from their site into my post. Alas, most of them were SO full of ads that they lost the main goal of their site. They had like 5 images, sorrounded by 50 ad and banners!

I got so frusted by this, that i desided to make my own! I know this was a bold step, but i just wanted to have a site to post images/smileys into my post…
